This prestigious London HQ for the global tech giant, houses 2,500 Google engineers and YouTube staff. The 11 storey, 371,000ft2 building reflects Google’s reputation for providing innovative and highly comfortable, collaborative working environments.
Aside from office and meeting spaces, staff benefit from restaurants, a gym, running track, sleep pods, wellbeing areas, restaurants, cafeterias and teaching kitchens. Completed in two phases, it demanded strict sustainability credentials, detailed analysis of materials and a very high level of quality finish.
Initially our in-house team produced a full 3D building information model (BIM) to help with design resolution and identify potential installation issues. Prior to work commencing, we also supplied detailed COSHH data and completed a rigorous ‘Healthy Materials’ audit to ensure that all board, glues, insulation and associated products, complied to stringent standards and would not be detrimental to employees future health.
The fit-out itself featured contemporary, industrial-style design features, so in many communal areas there were no ceilings and exposed M&E services. To achieve this look, drywall was finished directly to the underside of the slab. Finally, we employed sustainable working practices throughout the job, geared towards the reduction of waste, all of which was weighed before it left site.
