The European Medicines Agency is responsible for the scientific evaluation of medicines developed by pharmaceutical companies for use in the European Union. Their new Canary Wharf headquarters was designed for several hundred people from over 28 countries. The main objective was to create an intellectually stimulating environment, which enabled flexible and efficient working.
We installed drywall across nine floors, totalling 25,000m2. Careful planning and onsite coordination with other trades was required to incorporate a large amount of mechanical engineering such as ductwork, IT cabling and pipes, while maintaining the integrity of the audio and fire ratings.
Facilities included a conference space, break out areas, offices and meeting rooms, some of which have capacity for over 100 people, while cantilevered window openings were created for multiple interpreter booths. The large restaurant and cafeteria featured curved partitions, while the 6m high partitions on the trading floors, necessitated the use of scissor lifts by our trained operatives.
